Each student must keep their operating system updated.  Keeping your operating system updated protects against security vulnerabilities.  Failure to install updates for your operating system can result in temporary suspension of your ResNet account. 

Windows XP
To enable Automatic Updates on Windows XP, click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Then select Security Center. At the bottom of the window, click the Automatic Updates icon under the heading "Manage security settings for". Select Automatic (recommended) and set the time you would like Windows to check for new updates. Click Apply, then OK.

Windows Vista
By default, automatic updates are enabled in Windows Vista.
